↳Women of Marvel (10/10): Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk

Powers and Abilities: Jennifer is a Hulk, meaning that she is immensely strong, fast, and larger than average human size. She’s also a very capable lawyer, and sometimes defends other heroes in the Marvel Universe.

Background: After being attacked and wounded by a crime boss, Jen was given a blood transfusion by her cousin Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk. Jennifer transformed into She-Hulk shortly thereafter, but soon realized that her transformations are not simply directed by anger. She also maintains her personality when in Hulk form, and often prefers to stay as a Hulk. Since then, she’s been a solo hero, a member of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the leader of the Lady Liberators, and has recently become a member of the FF team in Marvel Now.

Why you should love her: Jen is amazing. She’s known for breaking the fourth wall constantly, which is extremely amusing and one of the best parts of her comics. She’s a great hero, but she’s also fun, intelligent, kind-hearted, and very confident with herself. Seeing her interactions with other female heroes is also one of my favorite parts of reading her appearances.

Where you should read about her:

  • Savage She-Hulk
  • Sensational She-Hulk
  • Avengers V.3
  • She-Hulk (2004)
  • Marvel NOW’s FF

I’ve read a good chunk of it a few years ago, but through borrowing. It’s pretty much all fourth-wall-breaking comedy....

I have not read any of the Sensational era (I guess that’s John Byrne?) but I’d think it’s at least worth exploring.
